The Basics:

Tinctures and oils are generally best for overall symptoms. This type CBD goes thru the digestive system into the blood stream. They are best for overall pain, anxiety, as a sleep aid, or to help with mental sharpness.

Creams are applied topically and go directly thru the skin to where the pain is. It does not go thru the digestive system. They are best for muscle aches, sore joints, arthritis, cramps etc.

Standard tincture/oil dropper bottles contain:  1oz liquid = 30ml = 600 drops 

250mg, 500mg, 1000mg etc is the amount of active ingredient in the bottle. Thus a 1000mg CBD bottle contains 1000mg of CBD in 1oz oil resulting in 1.67 mg CBD per drop. Ie. 1000mg divided by 600 drops = 1.67mg CBD per drop.

Starting Dosages:

Starting dosages vary from 1 to 5mg per pound. Each person or pet will have a different tolerance, so there is NO absolute starting dosage. It is always recommended to start low and work up, till you hit the point where it works best for you. This try and try again approach may take several weeks, so don’t give up after the first dose. My recommend starting dosage is 10 to 20mg. 

BUT NOT MORE THAN ONE (1) DROPPER FULL TO START WITH. 

This works for people and dogs but not for cats. Cats ave a faster metabolism so start at 2mg per pound. This is because cats have fewer CBD receptors and a different metabolic system so they need more CBD . Add a couple of drops extra to the formula.

A simple formula:

For 250mg bottles take your weight and DIVIDE it by 0.93 and you will get the number of drops from a 250mg bottle to give you a slightly over 1mg per pound dosage. If you weigh 150 lbs then 150/0.93=161 Drops and 161 drops divided by 20 drops per dropper = 8 droppers full

For 500mg bottles take your weight and DIVIDE it by 1.83 and you will get the number of drops from a 500mg bottle to give you a slightly over a 1mg per pound dosage. If you weigh 150 lbs then 150/1.83=82 Drops and 82 drops divided by 20 drops per dropper = 4 droppers full

For 1000mg bottles take your weight and DIVIDE it by 3.70 and you will get the number of drops from a 1000mg bottle to give you a slightly over a 1mg per pound dosage. If you weigh 150 lbs then 150/3.70=41 Drops and 41 drops divided by 20 drops per dropper = 4 droppers full

For stronger dosages just multiply by the strength you want. 1-1/2, 2, 3 etc

If your dosage seems to strong then cut it in half and work up or down from there. Do not be afraid to make changes.
